Cricket Team Of Pakistan
The story of Pakistan cricket is full of controversies right from the start till the world cup 2007. It seems that they are almost inseparable. But, Pakistan cricket is just not about controversies, it is also about one of the most talented teams in world cricket. It is also about one of the most unpredictable teams in world cricket. It is the story of the arch rivals India and Pakistan that has always been in the lime light.
The brightest of moments in the history of Pakistan cricket came unexpectedly in the 1992 World Cup where the Pakistan team stood up after a very poor start in the world cup. It is considered as the World Cup of a certain Mr.Imran Khan. He is considered the best captain of Pakistan Cricket. There is a little story behind Imran Khan playing the 1992 world cup. Pakistan when could not win the 1987, the then Pakistan captain Imran khan sworn on winning the next world cup and only then he will “call it quits” from the game of cricket.
And so to say miraculously Imran Khan led his team to victory in the 1992 world cup and making it the golden moment of Pakistan cricket. That world cup also brought to limelight a pair of fast bowlers that ruled the world cricket with its deadly pace and venomous swing, the duo of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. Wasim a master at swinging the ball both ways at a very nippy pace, so good was his bowling that he is considered the best ever left arm bowler to play the game. And Waqar, with is reverse swinging Yorker made any batsmen hear that dead rattle behind him.
The story of Pakistan cricket is not just about three deadly fast bowlers but yes it is surely about bringing a new dimension in the bowling department, a term called “reverse swing”. An art mastered by only the Pakistanis till a long, long time in the history of cricket before other countries started recognizing it as an art.
But, Pakistan cricket is not just about the fast bowlers; it has had its share of batsmen who could take on any bowling attack on them. The first to come to mind is Zaheer Abbas, a master tactician, full of grace, elegance and magnanimity. Asif Iqbal, a gritty batsman of his time. The most famous being the jumping jack, Javed Miandad for his six of the last of a match to bring his team to victory. Saeed Anwar, Aamir Sohail, Inzamam-ul-haq, and many others who have done great justice to this nation full of talented cricketers.
The latest one’s being Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Yousuf, Younis Khan, Mohammad Asif and many others with the newly appointed caption Shoaib Malik. But, still Pakistan cricket will always be remembered for its ball tampering, the Bob Woolmer case, the doping charges and still managing to be one of the top sides in the world. This is a feat not many can achieve. So, hurrah to the controversial cricket team “The Pakistan Cricket Team”.
